Google Fined 430,000 Euros Plus Costs in Copyright Infringement Cases

In cases decided by a French appeals court in January and February, search giant Google was found liable for copyright infringement.

Jonathan Nossiter sued Google along with three other documentary makers and a photographer.    Their suits allege that Google’s search engine was providing their creative works without proper permission or licensing.

Google responded to their requests to remove the illegal content, but such reappeared on Google Video.

Jonathan Nossiter is the son of Washington Post and New York Times foreign correspondent Bernard Nossiter.  This indicates that  traditional dinosaur media’s tentacles  lashing the Google monster are many and varied.

Google will likely appeal the decision.
